Tall Jack.. Bomb.. Moon Shot..
Call it as you will.. Tim Pahuta has the oppurtunity to hit a home run every time he steps to the plate for the Sioux Falls Canaries.
Steve Shirley says:"From the get go he has been a force the other team has had to reckon with as a left handed power hitter."
Tim Pahuta has hit some memorable homeruns this year like his 100th career homerun that ended up beer battered over the right field wall..
Tim Pahuta says:"I had tramp go down there Matt tramp the clubhouse manger I had him go down there and trade a bat and a different ball for the guy signed so I could get that ball back."
And with so many homeruns.. Pahuta has a chance at history.. To be crowned the home run king of the american association.
27 was the number to beat .. Set by Sioux Falls Pheasant Brandon Sing in 2010..
Pahuta says:"It's been in the back of my mind."
And before Thursday nights matchup against Fargo Moorehead.. Pahuta had a reminder from his girlfriend.. That he was one away from tying..
Pahuta says:"Every time I hit one she was giving me the countdown 2 more 1 more whatever.. One more to tie.."
And tie it he did.. With a 2 run blast..
Later in the game with no one on.. Pahuta blasted another.. And broke the team and league homerun record for a season...
The record would be short lived.. CJ Ziegler of the Wichita Wingnuts.. blasted a two more homers this weekend to bring his homerun count to 29..
Pahuta still has time.. There are 7 more games in the season.. 4 of them in the confines of the birdcage..
Shirley says:"It's exciting I mean chicks dig the home run."
Just as he reached the magic number of 28.. The season continues.. And while there's no chance at post season play for the Birds.. Tim Pahuta still has a reason to swing for the fences.,.
