Rapid City Council Undecided On Sept. 7 Rodeo

Bookmark and Share

A Rapid City church getting ready to host a rodeo has yet to hear from the city if it will be allowed.

Dove Christian Center's event is set for Sept. 7, but the Rapid City Council remains undecided on whether to allow it.

Legal and Finance Committee members declined to take a position on the matter this week, even though the City Council sent the request back to them on Aug. 19 for further consideration.

The council made that ruling after residents of a neighborhood near the proposed rodeo grounds protested the church's plans, saying an existing ordinance should have prohibited the approval.

The church's pastors couldn't be reached for comment on their rodeo plans or the neighbors' opposition.
