Sioux Falls Police now say that a sexual assault that was originally reported in Downtown Sioux Falls did not happen there.
Information Officer Sam Clemens said that the victim claims she was sexually assaulted, just not in downtown Sioux Falls as originally reported. Clemens also said that the attacker was not a random person, but someone the victim knows.
Police are still treating this as a sexual assault case. Clemens says that in most sexual assault cases, the victim knows the attacker.
No charges have been filed at this time against the reporter; however it is possible for the States Attorney's Office to file charges once the investigation is completed.
