River Greenway Project Phase 2 Done

Bookmark and Share

Wednesday afternoon Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation celebrated phase two's completion of the River Greenway Project.

At a special ribbon cutting ceremony city leaders and members of the public were able to see all the new features of this second phase. Phase two redeveloped the east bank of the Big Sioux River from Eighth Street to the railroad bridge. There's an interactive water feature that sprays water from rock to rock. Flood walls, as well as ramps that make the bike trail and river front more accessible are also some of the new additions.

“We have people that came here by bike, most of the people walked here. Then there are people that are talking about kayaking down the river here. It doesn't get any better than that,” said Sioux Falls Councilman Rex Rolfing.

Construction of the new Hilton Garden Inn near the greenway will be completed later 2013.
