Germanfest Takes Over Falls Park

Downtown Sioux Falls didn’t exactly look like South Dakota Saturday. The Falls Park area looked a lot like Germany.
That's because it's the annual Germanfest Celebration. It's one day where everything from the food, music and clothing resembles the European country. Two performed into the night. The event has seen up to 15,000 people in previous years.
Organizers say it's a great way to educate the city of Sioux Falls about Germany and its culture.
"It also brings about heritage, cultural heritage to the city of Sioux Falls. People of German heritage or people who want to experience Germany in general can come," said organizer Heidi Beck.
Sister Cities Association is the group that organizes the free event every year. Funds from the event will go to organizing for next year and student scholarships.
