DeJong Spiking Her Way To Louisville

Bookmark and Share

She's a force in the middle.

Maggie DeJong can block and slam just about any volleyball that comes her way.

"And she moves so fast."  Roosevelt Head Coach Holly Lynch says.

And the Roosevelt senior's hard work is paying off.  Dejong says she's heading to the state of Kentucky to play for Louisville next year.

"It's different.  It's going to be a big change but I'm up for the challenge and I like to try new things."  DeJong says.

But before she calls herself a Cardinal, there's a challenge on the table for her this year.  Another state title.

And both DeJong and her coach know she has what it takes to help the Roughriders repeat.

"Maggie is a one of a kind athlete.  Just her work ethic and her presence on the court is just exceptional."  Lynch says.

"When I'm on the court I just try to be so explosive and I try to make it and close every block every time."  DeJong says.

DeJong describes herself as the vocal leader of a Roughrider team that returns 7 seniors.  A team that knows the rest of the state is gunning for them.

"Every team is going to play there best against us because they want to beat us."  DeJong says.

DeJong already knows she's D 1 bound.

But that won't distract her from the task at hand.
