HyVee And Hillcrest Church Gas Card Giveaway

Bookmark and Share

The average price for a gallon of gas in South Dakota is above the national average, at roughly $3.66.

That's why cars lined up bumper-to-bumper on Saturday at the 26th Street HyVee gas station in Sioux Falls. HyVee partnered with Hillcrest Church for a ten dollar gas card giveaway.

"Gas prices are continually going up. It's one fo the things that for lower class and middle class families has really taken a toll on them. And so, we decided what's one small thing that we can do to make it easier on people. And we decided that giving this gas card might be a way," said Hillcrest Pastor, Doug Bartel.

The event lasted from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., but cars began lining up as early as 7:00 a.m. The gas cards were paid for by donations to the Hillcrest Church.

Pastor Bartel says this is just the church's way of saying 'thank you' to the community.
