The Sioux Falls Area Joint Fugitive Task Force arrested Mitchell Wynder on Tuesday morning.
An arrest warrant had been issued for Wynder’s arrest on two counts of aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing a 23-year-old victim in the back around 6:30 Monday morning. The incident took place near 12th Street and Marion Road.
Wynder was arrested following a traffic stop near 10th and Sycamore in Sioux Falls.
Due to the violent nature of the crime, the case was assigned to the U.S. Marshals led Sioux Falls Area Joint Fugitive Task Force and was given a high priority. Around 9:00 Tuesday morning, Wynder was spotted as a passenger in a vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated and Wynder was arrested without incident. He was booked into the Minnehaha County Jail pending court proceedings.
The Sioux Falls Area Joint Fugitive Task Force is a team comprised of law enforcement officers from the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshals Service. The task force objective is to seek out and arrest major fugitives. Last year, U.S. Marshals task forces arrested more than 27,000 state and local fugitives on felony charges.
