A Jackrabbit win over "Big Red" would shock everyone.....
...Except the Jackrabbits.
"I've been thinking about this one for a while now. You know, going back to the winter and summer, we've had this one circled on the calender." SDSU Junior QB Austin Sumner Says.
"We've been in these experiences before. It's not like we're going to come out star struck." SDSU Sophomore LB T.J. Lally says.
SDSU certainly wasn't three years ago when they lost 17-3 in Lincoln. And for a Jackrabbit team that has designs on a national championship, fear isn't an option.
"We know it's a big time program. We're going to play a lot of things and we understand that. But I think, for us to make a step to being a really great football team, we need to have that confidence that we're just going to play a football team and we can match up with anyone." Lally says.
The common thread between the 11 FCS over FBS upsets this season-fast starts that quiet big crowds expecting a blowout.
"You need to be focused on doing your job. If we get caught up in the sea of red, or the number of sellouts, or my dad's here watching me play at Nebraska, that'll kill you." SDSU Head Coach John Stiegelmeier says.
This will be SDSU's final game against a Big Ten team, with Big Ten commissioner Jim Delaney putting a ban on future FCS games, comparing them to playing the "junior varsity". If that's true, SDSU has no doubt they'll leave 90,000 Husker fans with a case of varsity blues.
