Auction Of Costner's Items Nets More Than $4,000

An auction of signed Kevin Costner memorabilia netted more than $4,000 to send a man from the Cheyenne River Reservation back to college.
    
Among the actor's personal items auctioned Saturday were a baseball jacket worn by Costner in the movie "Bull Durham" and an encased Louisville Slugger baseball bat from the movie "For the Love of the Game." Both brought top dollar bids at $400 each.
    
Other auction items were donated by Chief David Bald Eagle, chief of the Minnicoujou Tribe.
    
Funds from the event will help Phillip Red Bird Frame return to college. He is a Lakota interpreter at Costner's Tatanka tourist attraction in South Dakota.
    
Dakota Plains Auctions owner Rick Olesen said that he was happy with the proceeds from the event.
