17-Year-Old Cited For Hitting Horses

Bookmark and Share

The Minnehaha County Sheriff's department says they now know who struck three horses near Crooks on September 14th.

A tip led police to a 17-year-old male from Crooks.  The juvenile was traveling to work when he hit the horses.  The driver did not report the accident because he did not have insurance for the vehicle.

The 17-year-old was cited for failure to report an accident and failure to maintain financial responsibility.

One September 14th, three horses were hit and killed on 469th Avenue just north of the Willow Creek Street intersection.

The horses were on the roadway when they were struck by a GMC pickup.

All three horses died from injuries sustained at the scene.
