Fall Enrollment Stable At SD Public Universities

Bookmark and Share

Enrollment at South Dakota's six public universities has remained stable this fall.

The state Board of Regents says 36,365 students are enrolled, down just 65 students from last year. The number of full-time equivalent students is up by 313 over the year.

Full-time equivalency is based on total credit hours generated by all students. Regents CEO Jack Warner says it's an important measure of growth because it indicates the university system is serving more students who take a heavier course load.

Last week, the Board of Regents announced that the total number of students graduating with an associate or bachelor's degree at the six public universities has increased by 33 percent since 2005.

Warner says the growth in full-time equivalent students and degree earners is a positive trend.
