The State Theater in Sioux Falls is turning to social media to raise money for renovations.
The theater is holding a "MoneyBomb" fundraiser until midnight Friday. The campaign uses different social media outlets, like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, to urge people to donate money.
The State Theater is currently undergoing a multi-million dollar, six phase renovation.
"It's more of a participatory type of exercise as opposed to trying to get the major gift. It's getting as many donors as possible in a 24 hours period," Executive Director Stephen Williamson said.
There was a "MoneyBomb 2013" party at Acoustic Restaurant in Sioux Falls on Friday night.
This is the second "MoneyBomb" fundraiser held by the State Theater. Last year, about 200 people donated around $12,000.
