Feeding South Dakota Movie Event

September is nationally known as ‘Hunger Action Month.’ To wrap up the month’s festivities to raise hunger awareness, Feeding South Dakota held a free movie event.
More than 100 kids and their families packed in to the Orpheum Theater in Sioux Falls to catch two different flicks. One was 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs' and other, 'The Hunger Games,' movies that address the need for hunger.
Before the movie, Public Service Announcements were played to encourage those who attended to join the fight to eliminate hunger.
"We think it's important to raise awareness of that issue and get people in the community aware of the issue of hunger and hopefully join together to solve that issue," said Feeding South Dakota Development Director, Kerri DeGraff.
Around 14 percent of South Dakotans live in poverty. Feeding South Dakota is the only statewide hunger relief organization.
