Avera Heart Hospital Brings Art To Patients

Bookmark and Share

It can be hard for some patients and their families of the Avera Heart Hospital to get out and about, that's why the hospital decided to bring something special to them.

They're hosting their 10th Annual Gifts from the Heart Arts and Craft Sale Friday in the heart hospital's front lobby. The sale began at 7 a.m to 3 p.m. The sale featured arts and crafts from area artists and well as from those who make it their hobby.

Avera Concierge Dawn Glaser said, "We do have a lot of elderly population that do stay back there and they're from small towns. They don't like to drive in Sioux Falls because its just a big city to them and they appreciate being able to stay right here and not have to leave the building. We have our cafeteria and everything here so everything they need is right here."

The proceeds from the sale will support the Prairie Heart Guest House, which provides low cost accommodations for families of patients who are receiving treatment at the Avera Heart Hospital.
