Festival Of Bands Fills Sioux Falls Streets

Bookmark and Share

Music filled the streets of downtown Sioux Falls Saturday morning, all part of the 26th Annual Festival of Bands.

As many as 30 bands marched from Main Avenue to 6th Street, representing their school with songs, colors and even signs. Judges were placed on the route, evaluating ratings and rankings for each school. Trophies are awarded to the top bands in each class. Band directors say it's a great way to get kids involved and see other bands and their techniques.

They love it and they have a great day with it. It’s fun to watch the other bands and it’s just fun all-around,” said McCook Central Band Director, Terry Keehn.

Some of the bands will be marching at Howard Wood Field Saturday, competing for the top prizes in field competitions.
