"It's one of the best feelings ever. It's a lot of fun. I love how my team reacts." Washington's Mic Mayer says.
Washington's Mic Mayer likes hitting homeruns, but even though she may be the state's best homerun hitter, it's not her favorite thing.
"I always go up there and say I'm going to get a base hit. That's what I like to do more, I liked to get singles because, obviously, that makes your average better. It's not homeruns, it's singles. So I usually tell myself just base hit." Mayer says.
And Mayer has plenty of those too.
"I don't think Mic swings for the fence. She is just one strong young lady. And when she gets her hands out, and gets the bat out there, she will hit it a long ways or hit it hard." Coach Scott Powell says.
Teammates and opponents a like know it, and there's no place Mic would rather be than in the batters box with the game on the line.
"I feel like i do better with the pressure. I mean, evem with basketball or track, there is always pressure. So, yeah, i thrive under pressure.". Mayer says.
The proof is in the postseason, where Mic ended her prep career over the weekend with a third straight state title.
"It's great! It's probably one of the best feelings in the world!" Mayer says.
Just another good feeling she's gotten used to. In Sioux Falls, Zach Borg, KDLT Sports.
