A Sioux Falls man is facing several charges, including kidnapping, after a woman willingingly got into his vehicle at gas station.
61-year-old David Centra approached a woman at the Get N Go at 14th and Minnesota around 10 p.m., and offered to give her a ride to Fourth Ave. near Benson. She accepted, despite the fact that she did not know Centra.
Sometime after leaving the gas station, Centra stopped to buy alcohol.
"In the process, or in the time frame of getting the alcohol and gettin gup there, he pretty much drank the bottle," said Sioux Falls Officer Greg VandeKamp
Centra eventually brought the woman to her destination, but refused to let her out of the vehicle.
"She was wanting to get out and he was not allowing her to do so. He continued to drive at a fairly high rate of speed," said Officer Vandekamp.
The victim eventually convinced Centra to stop the vehicle.
"When he came around, he got out of the driver's door, and came around to the passenger's side. She grabbed they keys, chucked the keys, and that's when she was yelling for the neighbors to give a call," said Officer VandeKamp.
Police located Centra shortly after. He faces several charges including a DWI, simple assault, and kidnapping in the 2nd degree, which is a class three felony.
"Again, we would caution all residents of Sioux Falls if you honestly don't know a person, it's honestly not necessarily a great idea to take a ride," said Officer Vandekamp.
The woman did not suffer any serious injuries.
