South Dakota 4-H Looks To Expand Robotics Clubs

Bookmark and Share

South Dakota 4-H is looking to expand its robotics programs.

SDSU Extension 4-H STEM field specialist Christine Wood says 4-H will be holding training sessions over the next few months for volunteers, troop leaders, educators and parents interested in leading a club.

The clubs will use the National 4-H Junk Drawer Robotics curriculum and Lego Mindstorms platform.

Wood says robots are tools that help people achieve things, and they've been developed to do work that is too dangerous, precise, dirty or even boring. They also build cars and electronics, explore the sea and space, and serve in the military.

She says the program helps youth to expand their imaginations and develop problem solving and communication skills.
