South Dakota prison inmates are helping the Black Hills recover from an early October storm that dumped 4 feet or more of snow in some areas.
The Department of Corrections says Gov. Dennis Daugaard ordered minimum-security inmates and staff to help out at the request of local officials.
Crews are helping out in Rapid City, Spearfish, Sturgis and Belle Fourche.
The storm knocked out power to about 30,000 people and killed tens of thousands of cattle.
