A pair of Sioux Falls roommates found out one way to stop an arsonist is with a frying pan.
Their other roommate, 38 year old David Whitten has been charged with first degree arson, according to Sioux Falls Police.
The roommates were arguing over money and house work when Whitten began to stuff clothes into a bathroom vent and light it on fire.
The other two roommates were not fond of the idea of Whitten burning their home on the 3200 block of North Cliff. So, with some quick thinking and a frying pan police say one of Whitten's roommates smacked him over the head and prevented Whitten from burning more of the house.
Police say alcohol was involved and only the bathroom wall was burnt.
