BROOKINGS, S.D. — Mariah Clarin and freshman Clarissa Ober each posted double-doubles as the South Dakota State University women’s basketball team opened the exhibition season with a 100-57 victory over Bemidji State (Minn.) Sunday afternoon at Frost Arena.
The Jackrabbits got out of the gates quickly, making their first five shot attempts from the field and converting a pair of free throws to complete traditional three-point plays for a 12-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.
SDSU put together an 8-0 run midway through the half, to build a 33-11 lead on a three-point play by Ober. The Jackrabbits’ 51-25 halftime lead matched their largest advantage of the first 20 minutes.
It was more of the same in the second half for the Jackrabbits, who shot 50 percent or better in each stanza. Bemidji State scored the first two points of the second half on free throws by Morgan Lee, but could get no closer than 24 points the rest of the way. The final margin of 43 points was the Jackrabbits’ largest lead of the game.
