A Rapid City man shot by a law officer after a three-county chase has pleaded not guilty to all charges against him.
Twenty-seven-year-old William Chandler faces charges including aggravated assault on a police officer, grand theft, escape and aggravated eluding. He could face up to 150 years in prison if convicted.
Authorities allege that Chandler led officers on a chase after a Highway Patrol trooper tried to pull him over for speeding on Sept. 30. They say he eventually was caught and arrested but managed to escape his handcuffs and steal a squad car.
A state Division of Criminal Investigation report released this week concluded that Trooper Mike Bock was justified in shooting and wounding Chandler because Chandler threatened to back the car into him.
