As we gear up for the holidays, many start thinking about how to enjoy eating the great foods of the season without racking up too much in the weight department.
Chrissy Meyer from the American Heart Association and Holly Swee of the South Dakota Beef Industry Council joined Phil and Laura Tuesday to tell us more about eating healthy during the holidays.
This year the AHA and SDBIC will host the National Eating Healthy Day cooking demo Saturday Nov. 9th starting at 2 pm at the Strawbale Winery near Sioux Falls. Chef Amy Warren will be doing a demo of the holiday’s best heart-healthy, beef recipes at the winery.
National Eating Healthy Day is an annual event celebrated on the first Wednesday in November to raise awareness of the importance of good nutrition and making the best eating decisions to reduce a person’s risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke. The goal of the event is to help create an impact on the health of South Dakotan’s by teaching them cooking skills, educating them on healthy food choices and encourage people to share the cooking skills and information they learned with loved ones during the holiday season.
