Voters in Sioux Falls will decide whether or not a piece of land at 85th and Minnesota can be re-zoned to allow a Walmart to be built.
The Save Our Neighborhood group collected over 6,500 signatures on a petition to bring the re-zoning to a public vote. Walmart officials challenged the validity of over 2,000 signatures.
On Thursday, City Clerk Lorie Hogstad said that a total of 1,159 signatures were rejected, leaving 5,343 valid signatures. The remaining signatures exceeded the 5,089 needed to place the referendum on the ballot.
The referendum will be placed on the April 8, 2014 ballot.
