The federal government has given South Dakota $1.3 million to expand access to health care in the state.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says the funding is being made available by the Affordable Care Act.
South Dakota health centers last year served almost 56,000 patients and 36 percent of them uninsured. The agency says the grant will help care for approximately 7,700 additional North Dakotans by establishing new health center service delivery sites.
Nationwide, about $150 million in grants are being awarded to 236 health center programs.
