Former "The Voice" Contestant Stops By KDLT

She was one of the top five performers in Season Four of NBC's top rated singing competition, "The Voice." Now country music star, Amber Carrington is lending her voice to the Sanford Pentagon Friday night. While in Sioux Falls she's also joining up with the Edith Sanfor Breast Cancer Cneter to tell her story of why the fight to end Breast Cancer is so close to her heart.

Here's a little more about Amber:

Amber Carrington (born in Fort Worth, Tx on March 4, 1993) is an American country music artist who gained her fame as a semi-finalist on Season 4 of NBC's top rated show "The Voice." Her natural voice, style and ease with country music challenged iconic Voice coach, Adam Levine of Maroon 5. Levine's intuition to stretch this country girl's imagination and possibilities with her powerhouse voice and talent took Amber's voice into uncharted territory wowing listeners everywhere. Turning the heads of all the coaches, the audience, and the voters from here and abroad, Amber's own renditions of these pop songs landed her in the top 10 of the I-tune charts, and locked her in one of "The Voice's" top 5 performers.

Amber Carrington and her family moved to Rockwall, Texas when she was 9 years old, and she introduced herself to her new town with a microphone, magnetic charm, and a voice that captured the hearts of this Texas town. Her father, often by her side in many performances, was simple confirmation and support that this is where Amber belonged. With many musical influences in her family life, Amber's dreams turned into realities. As she matured, her confidence grew and and she began entertaining her peers at school and church. Sharing the stage with her grandfather (aka "PawPaw"), along-time musician himself, further awakened in Amber that her musical talent was truly in her DNA.

Carrington spent the next few years singing at a variety of venues including Rodeo City Music Hall, Grapevine Opry, and Johnnie High's Country Revue. In 2011, she won the talent contest at the Big D Opry at Gilley's in Dallas and in 2012, she took first prize in Rockwall's Got Talent. She was also invited to Los Angeles to sing with Katharine McPhee and Kenny G. While there, she was accompanied by music producer/performer David Foster.

Amber propelled forward with renewed energy that was indeed heaven sent and Nashville bound! Determined and confident in her ability to show the world what was inside this little Texas country girl, Amber re-auditioned for TV talent show NBC's "The Voice" Season 4, progressing all the way to the semi-finals. Carrington performed songs from a range of artists, including Carrie Underwood, Rihanna, Patsy Cline, Maroon 5 and many others. While on the show Carrington got the chance to sing along side country music's Lady Antebellum as well as her coach Adam Levine. Amber Carrington currently is living in Nashville, TN and recently had the opportunity to perform alongside Vince Gill & The Time Jumpers at 3rd & Lindsley. As well as becoming an ASCAP songwriter, she is writing with many of Nashville's finest such as Nathan Chapman & Heather Morgan. She is hard at work recording her first EP with all original material and looks forward to bringing her music with her worldwide fan base.

Between her music, many friends, and a town she came to call her own, Carrington enjoyed her teen years and graduated from Rockwall High School in 2011. Only a few months later, breast cancer took the life of Carrington's mother, Shonda Gaylord. The tragic loss of her mother quieted Amber's voice. Shortly after Shonda's passing, Amber began honoring the life of Shonda Gaylord by using the voice that she was blessed with through birth.
