A 21-year-old Sioux Falls Man was arrested for a DWI and several other charges after hitting a Sioux Falls Police officer's vehicle shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
Police say Samuel Landberg was driving eastbound on 8th St. when he failed to stop at a flashing red light at the intersection of 8th St. and Minnesota Ave. Landberg hit the squad car, which was driving southbound on Minnesota Ave.
"Most of our cruisers as they proceed out to their patrol discticts, a lot of them go through 8th St. and Minnesota. Several years ago, I had a near miss at 21st and Minnesota where a person almost struck me. So from time to time just because they're out there 24 hours a day our officers do get struck," said Lt. Matt Burns of the Sioux Falls Police Department.
The 50-year-old male police officer was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
