Athlete of Week Hall has career game for Potter County

Bookmark and Share

After 7 runner up finishes, Potter County's 8th trip to the state championship was the charm.....

....Thanks to number eight Chayce Hall....

...Throwing for eight touchdowns.

Chayce Hall, Potter County QB says: "Never in my life, maybe on Madden a couple of times...No way! I don't even know how to explain my feelings right now. It was just people getting open and they were blowing coverage and I was getting time to throw and feeding them the rock."

Hall has been a steady senior leader all season for a Battler team known more for their bruising rushing attack.

Vern Smith-Potter County Coach:"We knew he could throw the ball. Usually he gets too hypedup and tries to do too much himself early on. In this game I think with that first play it helped him to relax and play the game. He did what he's capable of doing."

Entering the 9A State Championship against a Leola-Frederick team they'd suffered their lone loss to, he'd thrown for 984 yards all season.

He had a third of that by halftime, finishing with a title game record 466 yards.

Chayce Hall says:"It's amazing. I mean people weren't even expecting us to be close to this at the beginning of the year. Coming into this game they didn't think we were gonna win it. We worked all year to get this."

An MVP performance that will make this eight great in Gettysburg for a long time.
