SF Kids Reveal Top Toy Picks For Christmas

Bookmark and Share

As many of you get ready for a busy weekend of shopping, a common question might be coming to mind: What do the kids in your life want for Christmas?

KDLT's Phil McIlrath got the number one assignment of the holidays season once again this year.

He asked the very tough questions to a panel of "industry toy experts" at Go Kids! Daycare in Sioux Falls on what the consider tops in the toy market this year.

It's a question to fear,
for parents this year,
what to get Johnny and Jane,
to bring Christmas morn cheer?

"Thomas The Choo Choo Trains,"said William.
"A Nerf Gun,"said Wyatt.
"A Barbie House,'said Braylin.
"Power Rangers,"said Owen.
"A car,"said Carter.
"A Spongebob,"said Alison.

Sure, Thomas, Spongebob and Barbies will do,
but experts say this year-
it's all about a red monster that hugs you.

"Elmo is so cute, and [he] is so interactive. He gets the kids sing and interacting. He was very popular with the little ones in our test group,"said Toy Expert, Elizabeth Werner.

Do you want an Elmo for Christmas? "Yeah,"said Brenna.
"I like Elmo,"said Oden.
What does elmo say? "Hi,"said Brenna.

But notice a trend,
when it comes to this red friend?
While many want Elmo,
a few more say No! No!

How come you girls don't like Elmo? "Because he's little,"said Taylor.
What would you do if someone gave you an elmo? "Not play with it,"said Taylor.
Do you Like elmo? "I like strawberry shortcake,"said Audrey.

But if your kids don't want toys,
that give hugs or make noise,
A hit on the nose,
might be the latest fashions in clothes.

"New Snow Pants,"said Audrey.
What color of snowboots?  "Pink,"said Nina.
"I want a dress for graduation,"said Braylin.
"Shoes,"said Nina. Shoes? Are you a shoe girl?

But forgetting the toys and clothes,
THE moment most feared...
a parent getting asked for something real weird!

"A Tree,"said Sabrina.
"A Bear,'said Carter.
"I want a lion,"said Oden.
"A Monster truck,'said Taylor.

So before you hit the Mall with determination and persistance,
Remember, tis the season of love, good luck and...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!
