BROOKINGS, S.D. --
A season full of frustration finally saw potential fufilled for the South Dakota State men's basketball team.
The Jacks defeated Belmont 85-72 yesterday at Frost Arena in a game that could turn the fortunes of their season. Belmont entered the game with an 8-2 record and the 21st RPI in the country, boasting a win over ranked powerhouse North Carolina.
None of that helped them against an SDSU team that finally had a great shooting day, hitting on nearly 58 percent of their attempts. Some of that was due to Jake Bittle. Injured through most of the year, Bittle broke through with a career high 19 points.
Coach Scott Nagy says it's the kind of performance he knew his team was capable of.
SDSU hosts Wayne State on Wednesday before beginning a five game road trip.
