Residents around southeast South Dakota have been dealing with flooding.
The National Weather Service says up to 8 inches of rain has fallen in some areas over the past five days, causing widespread flooding that has led to several problems. Lake Mitchell was closed to boat traffic Sunday because the water level was too high. Authorities say some homeowners around
the lake have called for sandbags. And residents in the area are reporting yards and basements under water.
There have been no immediate reports of serious injuries, though there have been some close calls. Authorities in Beadle County and Charles Mix County say the occupants of cars that went into flooded ditches were able to escape.
