Coyotes Gain Respect With Denver Upset

Bookmark and Share

VERMILLION, S.D.  --  If the first week of Summit League men's basketball play is a sign of things to come, forget the preseason polls, because it's going to be an unpredictable season.

That could be a great thing for USD.

The Coyotes opened Summit League play with a 59-54 upset win over Denver at the Dakota Dome.  The Pioneers were picked to finish second in the preseason.

Trevor Gruis and the Coyotes didn't seem to care.  Gruis was loose for 19 points and ten rebounds, and was one of many Coyotes that had something to prove.
