Opening Act To Be Announced Very Soon

Bookmark and Share

Three acts have already been announced to perform at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. But if you want to know who will be the first official performer, you might have to be a little more patient.

"Earth, Wind and Fire would be cool," said Sioux Falls resident, Shelley Giddings.

"I would like to see Willie Nelson. I saw him at Brandon and he knocked ‘em dead," said Sioux Falls resident, Lawrence Piersol.

Everyone seems to have an opinion on who they would an opinion on who they would like to see make history as the first official act at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

"I would love to see a classic name like Journey, or KISS or Dep Leppard," said Sioux Falls resident, Shelley Giddings.

Denny Sanford PREMIER Center Assistant General Manager, Chris Semrau says
he's finalizing those very details. He’s deciding who will be performing and when that will be, and He hopes he can break the news soon.

"It’s dates, times and the act and hopefully it will be something to announce within the next couple of weeks,” said Denny Sanford PREMIER Center Assistant General Manager, Chris Semrau.

Semrau says when he schedules a performer, he looks at who is in the area, how much money they can offer them and who is on tour during that time.

"We look at anything and everything from on the road touring and we research them all and talk to the ones who make sense and some are coming through the area and some are not. We think the community will be very happy with our diverse events lined up," said Semrau.

Lawrence Piersol says he wants to see a performer he's already seen before.

"I want to see Lyle Lovett. He's great. He's been to Sioux Falls with his small band. I've heard his large band in Nashville. He's super," said Piersol.

But Kristina Johnson wants to see someone a little different.

"We get a lot of country acts, so almost anything not country would be good," said Sioux Falls resident, Kristina Johnson.

But Despite the different tastes, those with the event center are aiming to create enough diverse sell-out events for the year.

"We want high energy, and a great party. Something people will remember for years to come," said Semrau.

Eric Church, Disney Live and Cher are the announced concerts. Tickets for Cher go on sale on Monday.
