Study Says Nurses Will Be In Demand In SD

Bookmark and Share

A state analysis has concluded that people able to care for patients, children or customers will find a favorable job market in South Dakota in the next decade.

The study by the Department of Labor predicts that the most average annual job openings in the state through 2022 will be in the fields of nursing, customer service and child care.

Mary Medema with the Sioux Falls Development Foundation tells the Argus Leader newspaper that the numbers show South Dakota has a service economy.

South Dakota State University gerontology specialist Leacey Brown tells the Capital Journal that the projected need for health care workers is alarming. She wonders where those workers will come from.
