COLUMBIA, MO --
South Dakota State starting quarterback Austin Sumner broke three bones in his foot after tripping during the Jacks 38-18 loss at Missouri yesterday.
The senior from Brandon Valley has been the Jacks starter the last three years and owns nearly every passing record in program history.
According to John Stiegelmeier, Sumner will be out for six to eight weeks.
So SDSU will now become Zach Lujan's team. Lujan is a sophmore junior college transfer who originally hails from Anchorage Alaska.
Despite getting thrown into a tough situation against SEC power Missouri, Lujan performed pretty well. He went 21-28 for 239 yards and one interception, and feels he'll be ready to step in now that his first game jitters are out of the way.
He'll make his first start next Saturday when State hosts Cal Poly at 6 PM.
