This week's athlete hails from Harrisburg, SD. Adam Glanzer is a soccer player who just yesterday took his team all the way to the title game in the National Championships in Kansas City, MO.
Meet Adam Glanzer, a kid from Harrisburg who happens to be pretty good at soccer. So good infact, he's gotten a full-ride to Butler for it.
"I just love playing soccer," said Adam Glanzer.
Adam is probably one of Harrisburg's best kept secrets. He doesn't play for the local schools because he's a student at Shattuck St. Marys, in Fairbault, MN. You see, Shattuck is a school for really smart kids who excel at sports.
"I just keep things simple. I'm not a flashy player," said Glanzer.
A humble athlete, who has made big sacrifices to get where he's at, like leaving his family to go to a school four hours away.
"My dad said do what you want to do and I wanted to play soccer and he's always had me going in that direction," said Glanzer.
"You give up some things to have advantages in other places. So as a parent, I feel it's an opportunity for Adam. He'll use it wisely," said Clyde Glanzer, Adam's father.
Adam is not only a great player he's also a great student. Adam is the full package, and it doesn't stop there. Adam aspires to not only be a doctor, but also a professional soccer player. He has the full support of his biggest fans...his parents.
"Maybe someday if I'm lucky, I'll see him playing in the world cup. I enjoy watching him play," said Clyde Glanzer.
"You ask me to do something I'm gonna do it,"said Glanzer.
With much attitude and determination, David Beckam may have some tough competition in a few years.
