Brent O'Neil and Erica Beck have worked in the planning department and will now be part of the community development and parking department.

The department will work on improving neighborhoods across Sioux Falls, affordable housing and other opportunities that will help improve the quality of life in the city.

"I think we're all very excited about working together what this means. We already have a very good community development staff. So you look at combining Erica and Brent and we're very optimistic about what we'll be able to do moving forward," said Darrin Smith, Director of Community Development.

O'Neil and Beck have experience in planning and say they're looking forward to helping the city grow.

"It just gives us a better opportunity to partner with other city departments being the community development department working with planning in the future and other city departments," said Community Development Manager Erica Beck.

"I think it's a really exciting time. I think it's a great opportunity both personally and professionally and for the city and for us to look at some initiatives. I'm really happy to be part of some increased efforts with the neighborhoods in downtown and economic development as a whole," said Urban Planner Brent O'Neil.

The two will go through some transitions over the next couple months before thy officially take on their new roles.
