Large Hail Hits Western South Dakota

Bookmark and Share

More hail hit South Dakota Thursday  and it was caught on camera in West River.

Softball size hail stones were reported near Rockerville yesterday afternoon.

The hail heavily damaged many vehicles like this, completely smashing in windows, causing dent so large on the front of the cars, it looks like the metal is about to break.

Many cars were heavily damaged by hail.

In fact so many cars were damaged, tow companies had trouble getting all the cars back.

In the middle of this hail mess, KDLT's very own Jenna Mann.

"We were coming back from Mount Rushmore we got to about Rockerville when just it sounded like explosions hitting the car it was softball sized hail. Pulled over with a whole line of other vehicles and right when we pulled over is when it started to crack the windshield and spiderweb. We dove into the back seat, but right when we go into the back seat the whole back window came in on top of us," said Jenna Mann.

So far no injuries have been reported in connection with the storm that brought that giant hail.
