Vikings Sign Gerhart

Eden Prairie, MN (July 30, 2010) - The Minnesota Vikings have signed 2010 2nd-round draft pick RB Toby Gerhart, it was announced today. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. With Gerhart’s signing, all eight of the Vikings 2010 draft selections are under contract in time for the start of the team’s first training camp practice.
Gerhart, the 51st overall pick in the draft, had an outstanding four-year career at Stanford University. He was the recipient of the Doak Walker Award, given annually to the nation’s top collegiate running back, after rushing for 1,871 yards and 28 touchdowns during his senior season. Gerhart finished second in the 2009 Heisman Trophy balloting in the closest race in Heisman history. He finished as Stanford’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns (44) and ranks second all-time in the Cardinal record books with 3,522 rushing yards.
