WINNIPEG, MANITOBA – The South Dakota State men’s basketball team continued its dominance in Canada on Thursday with a 94-52 win over the University of Winnipeg Wesman in front of 590 fans.
The second convincing win over Winnipeg boosts the Jackrabbit Canadian Tour record to 3-0, with one more game to play on Friday against the University of Manitoba Bisons.
Nate Wolters led the Jackrabbit attack with 16 points and five assists, Jordan Dykstra scored 14 point and Dale Moss 12 points in the win.
Unlike Monday’s game when the Jacks jumped out to a 21-0 lead to start the game, the Wesmen opened the scoring from the free throw line to take the early 1-0 lead. SDSU responded with a 9-0 run and ended the first period up 23-12.
The Jacks scored 23 more points in the second period and held the Wesmen to nine points to take a 46-21 lead into the lockerroom at halftime.
The second half went much like the first with SDSU putting 48 more points on the board compared to 31 by Winnipeg.
SDSU shot 57 percent from the floor for the game including a 71 percent effort from three-point range (10-for-14). Winnipeg shot 37 percent from the floor with a 5-for-10 night from long distance.
The Jackrabbits wrap up their Canadian Tour on Friday when they play the University of Manitoba. The Jacks won the first meeting with the Bisons on Tuesday by the score of 94-60.
