MADISON, S.D. – The Dakota State University Trojan football team hosted Minot State Saturday at the Trojan Field.  The Trojans suffered seven turnovers in the game as the Beavers held off DSU's rally in the second half, 35-19.

It could be both teams' last meeting before making their respective transitions next year.  Minot State will be moving to NCAA Division II, while Dakota State will become an NAIA independent team.

Dakota State remained winless in six games and dropped to 0-4 in the DAC conference.  Minot State won their fourth straight game, all DAC conference games, and raised their overall record to 4-2.

Minot State intercepted DSU's Paul Bagala throw on the Trojan 49-yard line in the Trojan's opening drive of the game.  The Beavers failed to score as Nik Richardson missed a 32-yard field goal that was wide left.

The Trojans suffered another turnover right after the Beaver missed their field goal.  Minot State's Brenden Weidler intercepted Bagala's pass on the Trojan 29-yard line and returned it for 18 yards.

The Beavers scored on a Tyson Schatz's 2-yard rushing touchdown.  Richardson's PAT kick was good to give Minot State a 7-0 early lead in the first quarter.

The Trojans suffered their fourth turnover of the first half, two by downs in Minot's territory, in the beginning of the second quarter.  Bagala's pass to Derek Kreutzfeldt was incomplete on the Trojan's fourth-and-2 situation on Minot's 28-yard line.

The Trojans began their next drive on their own 32-yard line.  Bagala connected to Tommy McDonald for a 42-yard touchdown pass.  DSU used four plays for 68 yards, which included a 42-yard reception by Carl Curtis.  The PAT kick by Lechner was blocked as the Trojans remained behind, 28-19.

DSU attempted an onside kick and was successfully recovered by Bryce Logan on the Trojans' 43-yard line with 4:26 remaining in the fourth quarter.  The Trojans recorded two straight first downs before suffering a fumble.  Minot State recovered a fumble from Bagala on Minot State's 16-yard line with 3:30 left in the game.
