Sioux Falls, SD—The United States Hockey League (USHL) announced Monday afternoon that Stampede defenseman Jordan Oesterle has been named CCM Defensive Player of the Week. Oesterle posted three points (1g, 2a) and was a plus-4 in two games this past weekend while leading the Stampede to back-to-back victories at home.
On Friday, Oesterle posted his first career USHL points, setting up the Stampede’s first goal and then tallying the final goal that sealed a 5-3 victory over the U.S. Under-18 Development Team. He finished the night a plus-3. On Saturday, he set up the first of four straight goals for the Stampede in a 4-1 win over Chicago. He also helped the Herd limit the Steel to just 16 shots in the game.
The Dearborn Heights, Michigan native is in his first season with the Stampede. He spent last season with Belle Tire of the Tier I Elite League where he posted 58 points (8g, 50a) in 70 games. Oesterle was a second round draft pick of the Stampede during the 2010 USHL Draft.
