Michaud leads at Warren Williamson/Daktronics Open

BROOKINGS, S.D. - David Michaud notched four wins by fall on his way to a first place finish at the Warren Williamson/Daktronics Open, Saturday at Frost Arena.

Michaud also took the Most Pins Award with four in a total time of 13:59, the fastest in 1:03, and the Outstanding Wrestler award for his performance.


Aaron Pickrel and Dustin Walraven both finished in third place in their respective weight classes. 


Pickrel fell in 1:03 to Josh Heinzer of Iowa Central in his first match but outscored his oppenents 23-7 in the wrestleback bracket. He defeated Al Meager of Augustana 4-1 to claim the third-place spot.


Walraven recorded two wins by decision on his way to the championship quarterfinals but fell to Esai Dominguez in the quarterfinal match 17-9. Walraven defeated Nate Herda of Augustana 6-1 for third place.

Dominguez went on to defeat Andrew Pastelov of NDSU for the championship.


Nick Flynn placed fifth wrestling unattached for the Jackrabbits. He defeated Austin Carmichael of Augustana by fall for the fifth-place spot.


The Jackrabbit wrestlers head to the Northwestern Duals in Evanston, Ill. Nov. 14.
