Herd Edge Omaha for 8th Win

Bookmark and Share

The Stampede came out to prove that they can remain undefeated at home. The herd got a whopping 17 shots off on the lancers net minder Todd Mathews, but unfortunately for the Stampede not a single puck crossed the goal line. The Herd got a handful of chances from working hard in front of the net and drew the only penalty of the period, but could not capitalize on their power play chance. The stampede knew coming into this game that it would be difficult putting pucks in the back of the net on two great goaltenders for the Lancers allowing fewer than 2 goals against a game and a save percentage over 90%. A physical and very fast paced twenty minutes of play.

Stampede come out to start the 2nd period trailing 1-0 after out playing the Lancers in the shot department. The Herd came out with the same kind of mentality they did in the 1st. Getting things going just 37 seconds into the 2nd was Matt Tabrum, with a simple wrist shot that beat the goaltender. Tabrum knocks in his 7th goal in the early stages of the 2nd. The Herd would strike again at 4:26 with Ryan Jacobson which eventually turned out to be the game winning goal, assisted by Ryan Reilly. The Lancers did come out putting more pucks on net but denying all 14 shots that period was Stephon Williams. The Herd continued to play physical and play solid at both ends of the ice tallying 14 shots that period with a total of 31 shots throughout two periods.

The Stampede started the 3rd on the power play but didn’t connect on it going 0-2 on the power play. The story in the third was Stephon Williams who made some of the biggest saves of the game none more important then the game tying save with 1:03 remaining in regulation. The herd played outstanding defensively throughout the game allowing on one goal back in the first. Pucks were being ripped off left and right with a combined total of 37 shots through 3 periods of play.”Any shot is a good shot,” Jacobson said who scored the game winning goal back in the second. The Stampede Continue there dominance at home becoming 6-0-0 who now look forward to the Lincoln Stars tomorrow night, and try to continue their winning ways.
