Run Jordon Run (Jordon Connor)

It seemed like every time Jordon Connor touched the ball on Thursday afternoon he was running for a touchdown.  In the Class 9AA title game, Connor ran roughshod over Viborg/Hurley's defense, helping Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan to a 48-34 win.

"He's just been the heart and soul," said Seahawks Head Coach Jeff VanLeur.  "We know if we get the ball to him and give him a chance he's gonna make some big plays."

"Our coach really got us fired up, changed some stuff up," said Connor.  "That really opened up the holes and we just ran right through it and got big yards."

Big is an understatement.  295 yards is a great tally for a quarterback.  Connor racked up that many on the ground, carrying the ball 31 times to break two 9AA championship game records.

"I felt fine," said Connor.  "I probably could have carried more, but I felt really good."

His four touchdowns accounted for half of his team's points as well.

"He has just had a career of seeing the field so well and being able to bounce things out.  His feet keep driving," said VanLeur.  "Usually we can give him a chance to do something with the football, get to that first little line, then get to the second level.  I thought we did a great job for him this year."

The title game was no fluke for Connor.  His career has been full of long touchdown runs for the Seahawks.

"Last year he rushed for over 1800 yards for us," VanLeur noted.  "I think for a career now he's over 35 touchdowns for us."

Now he caps off his senior season with state championship and MVP honors in his final high school game.

"He's taught us by example what it takes to be a winner and we've got kids stepping up wanting to be Jordan Connors," said VanLeur.

Connor added, "This is the best four years of my life."
