Naperville, Ill. – South Dakota’s Jake Thomas has been named the Great West Conference Player of the Week, the league announce on Monday. The weekly honor is the third of Thomas’ career and second this season. USD players have claimed the accolade four times during 2010-11.

A native of Racine, Wis., Thomas propelled the Coyotes to come-from-behind wins last week over Eastern Washington and Loyola Marymount with two double-figure scoring games. The sophomore guard posted all 15 of his points in the second half against the Eagles and added a career-high eight assists, while notching 18 points and three steals versus the Lions. He also pulled down seven rebounds in each contest. Thomas currently ranks in the top 10 in the GWC in scoring (11.4 ppg), free-throw percentage (82.2), steals (1.3 spg), three-point field goals (2.4 pg) and minutes played (28.8 mpg).
