The new Kohl's in eastern Sioux Falls opened its doors for the first time Sunday morning. The store joins Target and Century East at Dawley Farms.
Sue Campbell has been waiting a long time for this day.
"I'm just thrilled to death. This side of town needed this very much,” Campbell said.
Traveling west to the Kohl's on Louise Avenue wasn't fun for this resident of the east side, which is why the opening of the city's second Kohl's has her excited.
"This is ideal. It's gonna help a lot of people on the east side, Minnesota, Iowa, it's gonna be great,” Campbell said.
"Kohl's just thought that the east side of town was a great location for a second Kohl's in Sioux Falls,” said Kohl's Manager Brent Paulsen.
Paulsen says the time was right for a Kohl's on the east side.
"We're very excited to be able to have a Kohl's available to all of our customers on the east side of Sioux Falls,” said Paulsen.
The new Kohl's is taking up a new concept, branding itself as an “innovation store,” adding a new design and technological elements: a new juniors fitting room, new fixtures in the shoe department and customer service at the front of the store.
"I ended up buying three tops and a small purse,” Campbell said. "So, I saved a lot of money, I will be coming here a lot, I love it!"
Still, Campbell wants to see more options in their neck of the woods.
"Build this up a little bit out here, its got a lot of potential,” Campbell said.
With construction on more stores underway at Dawley Farm, it won't be long until that potential is reached.
A ribbon cutting for the new store will be held at 8 a.m. Wednesday. This is the third Kohl's to open in South Dakota.
