Playing both at quarterback, and at linebacker, Senior Steven Miller guided the Harrisburg Tigers to a 9-3 record this season. And while he will continue his dominance on the football field for quite some time with the Augustana Vikings....
....There was a time when Miller thought he'd be lacing up skates, instead of cleats.
YEAH I THOUGHT ABOUT THAT ALOT MY JUNIOR YEAR, I WAS THINKING ABOUT GOING AND PLAYING SOME JUNIOR HOCKEY, BUT I DECIDED I WANTED TO PLAY FOOTBALL.
And Augie couldn't be happier about it, but what do they think of him out on the ice with the Sioux Falls Flyers?
THEY ENCOURAGE ME TO PLAY AND THEYRE HAPPY THAT I'M PLAYING ANOTHER SPORT, STAYING IN SHAPE. AND I'VE ALWAYS PLAYED HOCKEY SO IT'S NOTHING DIFFERENT THAN NORMAL.
This season Miller led the Flyers in goals and assists, with 22 and 24 respectively. And his points total of 46 ranked him at eighth in the league. On top of that he's helped carry the Flyers to a 20 and 8 record, in just their second season in the highly competitive Midwest High School Hockey League. All this comes as no surprise to Flyers Head Coach Eric Engdahl.
STEVEN'S A VERY DYNAMIC PLAYER, HE'S VERY PHYSICAL, HE SMART, HE'S GOT GREAT SKATING SKILLS AS YOU COULD SEE TODAY. HE CAN SKATE THROUGH TWO OR THREE GUYS, TAKE A HIT AND STAY ON HIS FEET. HE'S GOT GREAT HANDS WITH THE PUCK. HE'S GOT GREAT VISION.
With the help of all those tools, Miller was able to carry his team to a fifth place finish in the league tournament. If the Vikings have their way though, he'll help them to number one.
