Kids classes at the Great Plains Zoo are about to get better thanks to an educational grant.
The Qwest Foundation gave the zoo $6,500 to enhance ZooCub classes, summer ZooCamps, and the ZooMobile programs offered year-round. Directors say the money is a big shot in the arm for their hands-on classes..
"We've actually more than doubled our education offerings in the last five years, so this helps us continue to grow and exand and teach new kids every year," said Great Plains Zoo President and CEO Elizabeth A. Whealy.
"We'll be able to reach about 46,000 kids with this money we're giving and the ZooCub program, so it's a great match for us," said Jeff Carmon with the Qwest Foundation.
